Subtitles for video are recorded in many different file formats.
Other that just the text and the time codes for the text, such files can contain special formatting for certain lines and descriptions of non-verbal sounds.
AnyCount will always count the text. The counting of other parts of the subtitles can be enabled or disabled.
Anycount supports the following subtitle formats:

SCR - MacSUB
MPL - Mplayer subtitle format.
OVR - OVR script format

SMI, SAMI - SAMI Captioning format
S2K - Sasami script
SBT - SBT format
890 - Scantitle format
SST - Stream SubText
SON - Spruce DVDMaestro
STL - Spruce Subtitle files
SSTS - Stream SubText Script

SSA - SubStation Alpha
TTML, DFXP - Timed Text formats
TTS - Turbo Titler
